I think that this fall I'm going to take one class, and I've decided that that class will be nude portrait.

And this is the point where I'm getting nervous and trying to talk myself out of it - and this is where everyone should talk me back into it.

I seriously can't believe I never posted these. I took the Holga into the studio this year, and was warned that when we hooked it up to the speedotron it may just melt, let alone have the photos turn out.

If you had no fear, budget, responsibility or time limits, what would you do? What have you always secretly wanted?

My answers ...

- Be lost in Jerusalem.
- Travel everywhere humanly possible in this world.
- Spend a few months at an ashram in India.
- Bike all over Nova Scotia.
- Visit the Salton Sea.
- Live as earth friendly as humanly possible.
- Have a completely organic and vegan lifestyle and diet.
- Photograph nudes.
- Have homes in all the places that I call home.
- Get any piece of art on my body that I wish, without thinking about sagging or worrying about potentionally having to cover it up.
- Retire my mother and pony somewhere in Nova Scotia with a lot of space and sky and the atlantic nearby.
- Walk a far distance. Just for the sake of walking.
- Always photograph strangers, and never talk myself out of asking.
- Write novels.
- Buy a grand, and make beautiful music.
- Have far too many children and raise them as wonderful little hippies.
- Live in Africa for a year.
- Love. Lovers.
- Give a camera to any child without one.
- Create.

I'm sure there is more.

What would YOU do?

This is probably what I am spending most of my time and energy on lately. So seriously, if you know anyone who'd want to be a part of this, let me know!

These are some photos from studio last week, models and classmates afterwards just hanging out. I've also thrown in a bunch of other portraits that I haven't had a chance to show yet - and a few things I've had to do for school as well.

These are the rest from the farewell show. It's a little unfortunate that having them this low res doesn't do them much justice, but oh well.

I just picked up a couple boxes of slides from the lab, so there is definitly no lack of work to show in the near future. I feel like I can finally start showing photos again now that I'm finally done alot of scanning and organizing that has been put off for far too long.

I'm extremely excited about many things that are coming up in the next few months. I also got news tonight about something really great that may be happening this year, which I am estatic about - but I'm not saying anything until it has happened.

Also; I'm looking for young adults to photograph in their homes. If you're out of state/province but are still interested, let me know anyways, I'll be traveling a bit over the summer. And if you aren't interested but know people who would be - spread the word! I need as many people as possible. If you want to set something up or just want more information e-mail me at  -   marissadaborn@gmail.com

I've been spending the majority of my free time lately scanning negatives and slides, so I finally have something to show from the Remember August farewell show. It's the first time I've used film at a show, and I think I ended up being pretty impressed. I had to drive Kirstin to the airport this night, so I showed up halfway through - but I also photographed The February's this night which I should hopefully have up in the near future. I'm also hoping to have up some examples from a project that I've been working on a lot lately, as well as some stuff I've been shooting of people I've met on the streets, and then possibly some stuff from the studio this term.

This is me as of lately. My camera has been perma glued to my face. I've got so many projects on the go, this term has been horrible and incredible. I'm not going back to school next term, but I've got some solid sounding plans - I just need to stay ridiculously motivated.

I have alot of things that I've been working on scanned and almost ready to go, I just need to spend some more time organizing them all.

Also; I'm working on a project that involves young adults and their bedrooms, if anyone is interested in partaking in it I would be thrilled. If you're out of town/state it could still possibly work, I'll be traveling a bit over the summer.

I just invested a fair amount of money in a scanner (finally), and I am quite thrilled. I think it will definitly pay itself off and prove to be worth it.

I don't have much to say except my heart is in a perpetual state of up and down, and wednesday's are tending to be the best days of my life.

things I love lately;
hand writing on paper
wednesday's
jose gonzalez
teenagers
slide film
strangers
whispering
